Euro-BioImaging is expanding its imaging technology offer!

Published: 2020-07-22

Euro-Bioimaging is a research infrastructure that has been founded to provide access to the best imaging services in Europe. These services are provided at its 33 Nodes, all of which are internationally renowned imaging facilities. A prime goal of Euro-BioImaging ERIC is to ensure that its imaging technologies are truly cutting-edge. To ensure that our repertoire of provided technologies will stay abreast with the fast development and the breakthroughs in imaging research, we have, together with our Nodes, developed a process to identify and assess new and innovative imaging technologies, to make sure that the technologies we offer are constantly evolving to meet user needs and to provide the best possible impact when it comes to advancing biological and biomedical sciences.

This is why we have launched a Proof-of-Concept study making it possible to access imaging technologies previously unavailable via Euro-BioImaging. We are currently accepting applications to use these technologies and we encourage you to apply!

New technologies available

For our Proof-of-Concept study, a number of high-impact technologies have been carefully selected - based on user feedback and suggestions by our Nodes - and showcased to prove they are fully operational for external users. These technologies represent a significant expansion of the Euro-BioImaging technology portfolio – covering imaging from the nano- to the tissue-scale. We are pleased to be able to now offer all scientists access to the following technologies:

Name of the technology Nodes offering the technology
Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) Austrian BioImaging

Request access

All scientists, regardless of their affiliation, area of expertise or field of activity can benefit from Euro-BioImaging’s pan-European open access services. Potential users of these new technologies are encouraged to submit project proposals via our website. To do so, you can LogIn to access our application platform, choose the technology you want to use and the facility you wish to visit, then submit your proposal. All applications will be processed by the Euro-BioImaging Hub. As usual, users will benefit from advice and guidance by technical experts working at the Nodes, training opportunities, and data management services.

An ever-expanding service offer

Over the next year, these technologies will be reviewed to assess their relevance and regulate their inclusion into the technology portfolio of the research infrastructure. In addition, the proof-of-concept study will be evaluated by the Euro-BioImaging Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which forwards its recommendation to the Euro-BioImaging Board for the final decision. By using one or more of these technologies during their Proof-of-Concept study, you are an important part of the process that allows us to continue to expand our offer.
