Cryo Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy (Cryo-CLEM) *
Longer description for technology info page: Cryo-CLEM combines cryo-fixation and cryo-fluorescence microscopy with subsequent cryo-FIB, cryo-TEM, cryo-SEM, or cryo-ET. Alternatively after cryo-fluorescence microscopy samples can be cryo-substituted and embedded in resins, followed by room temperature FIB-SEM, TEM, or ET. The main advantage of cryo-CLEM is better preservation of spatial correlation between fluorescence and EM images, compared to standard CLEM using chemical fixation, and the possibility to use the full palette of fluorophores compared to in-resin fluorescence CLEM experiments.
