Meeting our Scientific Advisory Board in Finland

We were very happy to meet in person with members of our Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for the first time from July 25-26 in Finland. These intense two days provided the opportunity to gather ideas to support our infrastructure in the next strategic plan. We want to thank our SAB members who came from around the world (Australia, Japan, Canada and the United States), and the members who joined online, for taking the time to attend this important meeting. In this article, we share some impressions from the meeting.
What is the Euro-BioImaging SAB and what is its role?
Constituted in July 2020, the Euro-BioImaging Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is composed of highly-qualified, internationally-recognized scientific, ethical and technical experts selected on the basis of their competence in all aspects of the activities of the Euro-BioImaging ERIC. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to meet in person during the first two years of Euro-BioImaging’s operations. Nevertheless, SAB members undertook the major task of evaluating the Expressions of Interest of the two Calls for Nodes during this time. Under their watch, our infrastructure has grown significantly, while assuring the highest standards of service for Euro-BioImaging users. In 2023, the Scientific Advisory Board will again be mobilized to provide advice and to evaluate the Euro-BioImaging ERIC activities. With their vigilance, we will keep our infrastructure cutting-edge and build strong foundations for the future of imaging. We really appreciate their comments, feedback and insights on important topics and how to view the future. We are truly grateful for their time and engagement in developing Euro-BioImaging!

Discussions continued. SAB members are up early to continue to advise us on our future communication & outreach strategy.
The meetings were followed by a visit to the Turku PET Center, part of our Finnish Biomedical Imaging Node (FiBi), where SAB members got to see the new Total-body PET scanner.
