Euro-BioImaging is organizing an online User Forum on April 5, 2022, from 14:00-17:00 CEST. This event will highlight the importance of cutting-edge imaging technologies in support of brain research and showcase the specific expertise available at our Nodes across Europe through case studies presented in tandem with the research community.
In this abstract, learn how Serena Ding and her colleagues use new imaging and analysis tools to dissect the mechanisms underlying observed behaviour and to discover novel behavioural drivers.

Imaging and measuring behaviour to understand the brain
Serena Ding, Max Planck Institute for Animal Behaviour
Recent developments in imaging and tracking technologies have offered us great opportunities to capture organismal- and group-level behaviour with unprecedented precision. We use various imaging systems to study different collective behaviours in nematodes such as C. elegans in controlled laboratory settings. Some of our systems are designed for high-throughput behavioural phenotyping; others are optimised to simultaneously record individual and group behaviour. With the new imaging and analysis tools we aim to dissect the mechanisms underlying observed behaviour and to discover novel behavioural drivers.
