Euro-BioImaging receives its ERIC “plate” at the ESFRI 20 years event

Euro-BioImaging became an ERIC in December 2019. During the entire duration of the pandemic, we waited patiently for our “plate,” the official plaque with our name on it that is given to all European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs). On March 25th, 2022, following a relaxation in travel restrictions, we received our plate at the ESFRI 20 years event in Paris, France, in a formal ceremony with the European research community. Today the plate is housed at the Euro-BioImaging Seat in Turku, Finland. Thank you, ESFRI and ERIC Forum for organizing this memorable ERIC plate ceremony. We are so happy to have our plate at last!
Jana Kolar, ESFRI Chair, and Jean-Eric Paquet, Director General for Research and Innovation, European Commission, gave the plate to John Eriksson, Euro-BioImaging Director General and Antje Keppler, Section Director of the Bio-Hub, who represented our infrastructure at the ERIC plate ceremony.
In his short address, John Eriksson said, “The pandemic has taught us how important the little things in life are to our health and our societies. Small things, invisible things… those are the job of Euro-BioImaging. We have devices spanning everything from really small things (molecular scale) to things that are of body size (organ scale). These instruments are crucial to carry out research relevant to health and disease. We need these technologies, the know-how, and the data management that are all available at our infrastructure. We are pleased to be part of the European research community.”
